CALL for applications
NEUROMED research positions
Deadline March 15, 2010
NEUROMED is a three year European funded project (2010-2012) bringing together leading neuroscience laboratories in Algeria, Egypt, France, Italy, Morocco, Spain and Turkey with the aim of building research capacities in the EU’s Mediterranean Partner Countries. As part
of its activities, NEUROMED is inviting applications for two year research positions in Egypt (1 position) and Morocco (2 positions) in one of the universities listed below. All applicants should have completed their PhD and should have acquired substantial experience in neuroscience research in international laboratories. They will also be involved in teaching and the teaching load will be discussed. Preference will be given to candidates from Egypt and Morocco who wish to return home.
Our strong hope is that highly motivated young scientists will actively contribute to reinforce neuroscience research in the EU’s Mediterranean Partner Countries. Beyond the NEUROMED project, the long-term goal is to provide candidates with the opportunity to integrate the local University system.
The positions will become available as of May 1, 2010 though later start dates are negotiable.
Successful candidates will be expected to develop their own research projects in priority (but not exclusively) in one of the fields listed below:
- Neurodegenerative, mental disease and neurotoxicity
- Neuroplasticity, pain, development, learning and education
- Adaptation to environmental stress
- New technologies for the neurosciences.
NEUROMED will pay salaries according to University policy, contribute to removal costs and provide research money to help researchers pursue their projects (specific amounts will be negotiated). Researchers funded by NEUROMED will benefit from collaborations inside and outside the NEUROMED Consortium.
Applications should be sent to mireille.besson@incm.cnrs-mrs.fr with the subject line "NEUROMED Research position” no later than March 15, 2010. Applications should include a detailed CV, a list of publications, selected reprints, a brief statement of the candidate’s research interests (2 pages maximum), a short research proposal (maximum 5 pages) and at least 2 letters of reference.
