The U.S. Embassy in Rabat is seeking an individual for the position of Agricultural Specialist.

BASIC FUNCTION OF POSITION: The incumbent works to promote U.S. agricultural exports to Morocco, through market research and analysis, reporting, identifying and organizing appropriate marketing activities, and pursuing trade policy objectives. S/he supports any other U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) activities in Morocco.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED

NOTE: All applicants must meet all qualifications and provide supporting documentation for each criterion below

Education: Possession of master’s college degree in agricultural economics, agricultural marketing, business, general agriculture, or economics is required.

Experience: Three to five years of prior experience in the economic aspects of agriculture, including experience in marketing and/or the analysis and interpretation of data and presentation of findings in written format is required.

Language: Level 4 (fluency) in English, Arabic, and French is required.

Knowledge:
A thorough understanding of the state of agricultural development and trade in Morocco is required.
Familiarity with government offices and trade associations concerned with agricultural imports is required.

Abilities and Skills:
Ability to develop and maintain an extensive range of senior level contacts in governmental and private sector circles in Morocco is required.
Ability to inter-relate developments in the field of agriculture to the broader forces at work in Morocco is required.
Ability to plan, organize, and execute market development projects and complex research projects and to prepare precise and accurate analytical reports is required.
Good computer operation skills and ability to effectively use Microsoft programs such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint is required.

SELECTION PROCESS

When equally qualified, US Citizen EFMs and US Veterans will be given preference. Therefore, it is essential that the candidate address the required qualifications above in the application.

ADDITIONAL SELECTION CRITERIA
Management will consider nepotism/conflict of interest, budget, and residency status in determining successful candidacy.
Current employees serving a probationary period are not eligible to apply.
Current Ordinarily Resident employees with an Overall Summary Rating of Needs Improvement or Unsatisfactory on their most recent Employee Performance Report are not eligible to apply.
Currently employed US Citizen EFMs who hold a Family Member Appointment (FMA) are ineligible to apply for advertised positions within the first 90 calendar days of their employment.
Currently employed NORs hired under a Personal Services Agreement (PSA) are ineligible to apply for advertised positions within the first 90 calendar days of their employment unless currently hired into a position with a When Actually Employed (WAE) work schedule.
